Introducing the new Tonda PF Sport Collection by Parmigiani Fleurier
Parmigiani Fleurier, renowned for its elegant watch collections, has introduced the new Tonda PF Sport collection, replacing the Tonda GT collection. These revamped models are available in four references of steel and rose gold in chronograph and time-and-date configurations.
What makes a watch sporty?
The sportiness of a watch varies from brand to brand but generally includes some water resistance capability, shock absorbers, and a rubber or textile strap. A sporty watch is more practical and comfortable to wear every day, making it essential in most luxury watch collections.
What’s new with the Tonda PF Sport Collection?
The updated versions of the Tonda collection feature a more straightforward design, eliminating some of the quirks of the GT collection, which included a unique oversized 12 o’clock placement for the date. The date display has migrated to the 4:30 position for the chronograph and 6 o’clock for the time-and-date models.
The Tonda PF Sport Automatic
The Tonda PF Sport Automatic does not have a chronograph but retains the contrasting date display, which appears at the bottom of the dial. It comes in steel and rose gold, measuring 41mm in diameter and 9.8mm in thickness.
The Chronograph Tonda PF Sport
The Chronograph Tonda PF Sport comes with black subdials, providing high contrast within the clou triangulaire guilloché textured silver dials. Each hour marker has a black luminescent coating, making it visible on a relatively small surface. The watch has a COSC certified PF070/6710 automatic movement, which boasts a 65-hour reserve visible through the case’s exhibition back. The textile strap adds to its sporty look and feel.
Pricing and Availability
The Chronograph Tonda PF Sport in steel is priced at CHF 26,500, while that in rose gold is CHF 46,000. Meanwhile, the Tonda PF Sport Automatic in steel is priced at CHF 19,500, and the rose gold is CHF 35,000.
Parmigiani has maintained its high level of elegance in the Tonda PF Sport collection, which redefines the company’s sporty offerings. The collection features cleaner, more straightforward designs that retain some of the quirkiness that the company is renowned for. While some may find them too sterile, the watches’ balance, contrast, and straightforward execution are a welcome addition to Parmigiani’s watch collections.
